As of 1 January 2018, Istraturist Umag and Plava Laguna Poreč are united under the name Plava Laguna. This will expand the company’s portfolio and the area in which it operates to three destinations: Poreč, Umag and Rijeka.
Plava Laguna is a hotel company with a history of 60 years of successful business and development, through which it has ensured its recognisability and become one of the leading names in Croatian tourism. By continuing investments into its amenities and accommodating to the needs of the increasingly demanding tourism sector, it has attained enviable results.
Plava Laguna realises more than one billion kuna in overall revenue per year, and employs around 3,000 workers. Its two- to five-star accommodation facilities, hotels, apartments and campsites can host more than 42,000 guests per day, and register around 4.8 million overnight stays per year. The company also has 360 berths in two marinas, as well as a series of food & beverage outlets, sports facilities and other amenities that complement its basic accommodation offerings.
In order to implement high international tourist service standards, in 1998, Plava Laguna (then Istraturist) has been a partner firm to Meliá Hotels International, one of the largest hotel companies in the world, which manages more than 350 hotels in 30 countries. In Croatia, Meliá Hotels International is present with six branded hotels and three apartment resorts, all of which are located in Umag and are owned by Plava Laguna.
It is Plava Laguna’s goal to constantly improve the quality of its accommodation, develop amenities for relaxation, sports and recreation, and thus to actively contribute to repositioning Istria – and especially the destinations of Poreč, Umag and Rijeka – as high-quality tourist destinations characterised by a strong ecological orientation and respect for sustainable development in all segments of its business.
