International recognition for a top-quality product
“This is the best thing that could happen to any olive oil producer, and it is certainly the most valued recognition I have ever received”, said Klaudio Ipša, after his frantoio-type extra virgin olive oil was ranked among the 15 best in the world in this year’s edition of the Italian Flos Olei Guide.
To be included in the guide, each olive oil is meticulously rated and scored. Marco Oreggia, the guide’s editor and a proven connoisseur, personally visits the competing olive oil producers.
A booming family business
The Ipša family planted a thousand olive trees on five hectares of land in 1998. They started their production with caution and determination, not expecting such a big success. Their participation in various events such as Vinistra, Maslina in Split, Krasica and Vodnjan, has resulted in numerous awards.

They produce extra virgin olive oil from the varieties such as Istarska Bjelica, Frantoio, Leccino, Bugla and Črnica. The olive tree groves and tasting room of the Ipša family can be found in the village of Ipši near Livade. The olives are handpicked and cold pressed the very same day, and then stored in a century-old stone cellar.
