The Plitvice Lakes

This spring, the Waterfalls of the Plitvice Lakes National Park were included among the 10 most beautiful lakes at the planet, according to the list of the Budget Travel magazine. The American TV network CNN also covered this choice at their website.

A stunning system of waterfalls, forests and lakes

- If the Grand Canyon were covered in green moss, spotted with 16 lakes across its base, and laced with thousands of falls along its steep walls, it would look a little something like Plitvice Lakes National Park, said Budget Travel and CNN about this beautiful system of waterfalls, woods lakes and the karst soil which covers 30.000 hectares in the south-western Croatia. They also added that the colour of the water is intensely turquoise, thanks to the unique mix of minerals and organisms in runoff from the Dinaric Alps.

From Istria to the Plitvice Lakes

Plitvice became the national park back in 1949, and over three decades, they were also included on UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
While you are in Istria, visit one of the 10 most beautiful waterfalls in the world, only a 2 hours’ drive from Istria. A one-day trip to the Plitvice lakes will become a real adventure and fun in revealing the natural beauty, the lakes and the waterfalls. Get to know the national park walking, hill-walking or cycling. Go across to the other side of the lake in the electric boat or row to the spot you want. You will be enchanted by the natural attraction of Plitvice, as well as the tranquillity of life in there.
