Early autumn in Istria offers a one-of-a-kind walk by the sea with a glass of wine in the hand. If you wish to taste exquisite local wines and delicious Istrian food, join us on the Wine & Walk by the sea tour in Novigrad that attracts more and more people each year!
Gather your friends and family, or bring your partner to share the adventure of exploring the local wine and gourmet scene and the town of Novigrad in an easy-going and fun way, while admiring the colours of the autumn and savouring the fruits of northwestern Istria's vineyards.
The wine walk starts in the morning, from Novigrad's seafront promenade Porporela, where you can register, collect a tasting glass and vouchers, a trail map and all necessary instructions. The Wine & Walk route is 10 km long, and all of the wine & food points you’ll stop by will offer you only the best of Novigrad's wines, pairing perfectly well with local sea and meat specialties.
The adventure starts with a walk down the seafront promenade and the old port of Mandrač at the very heart of the town, with the first tasting stop being located just outside a wine cellar boasting a long tradition. The trail leading to the next tasting stop passes partly by the sea, only to enter Novigrad's hinterland through vineyards, olive groves and other stunning nature sites.
The return to the centre of Novigrad is planned for late afternoon hours, and the final stop will reveal another magical corner of the Old Town. Finally, a gathering will be organised at the town’s square for all participants and visitors, with even more food and wine tasting, great music and a fair offering local farming produce and souvenirs.
Join this unique gourmet tour, have a good laugh, sing along, make friends and meet Istrian winemakers who will tell you all about their premium wines. You might even learn some of the secret recipes from the local caterers, to round up your Istria experience and make lifelong memories.
