Traditional Venetian regatta, after a few years break, is sailing again into the port of Novigrad
"Transadriatica" is connecting the two shores of the Adriatic
The start of the nicer and warmer part of the year, the participation of numerous crews – some with considerable sporting ambitions, some more socially oriented; the delightful futsal and bocce competitions between the crews and their hosts in Novigrad, all imbued with heartfelt hospitality and a sincere welcome from both the local population and the local government, have all proven to be a winning combination for the success of a legendary and fascinating regatta that joins the two shores of the Adriatic.
The regatta will once again kick off from the Venetian Lagoon, on 2nd June, with the arrival in Novigrad slated for the early hours of 2nd June. The regatta participants will be in Novigrad through to Saturday evening and their hosts plan a number of events to animate and entertain them.
The return leg from Novigrad to Venice is planned for the evening of Friday, 3rd June. This nocturnal voyage of some 60 miles will remain within a six nautical mile zone from the shoreline to ensure safer sailing for regatta participants.
The award ceremony for the stage one leaders will be held in Novigrad on 2nd June during a common dinner for all participants, with the final award ceremony to be staged later in Venice.
Interested Croatian sailors can also register to participate in this year’s edition of the Transadriatica Regatta. They will be provided berthing free of charge at a marina near the very centre of Venice. The free berthing will be available to them in the weak ahead of the regatta or in the week following the regatta. It should be noted that sailors from the Croatian side of the Adriatic may only participate in one of the two stages: from Venice to Novigrad or from Novigrad to Venice.
