That the domestic squid really is a truly delicious morsel, gourmets shall be persuaded durnig the Days od adriatic squid that will take place from the December 1st 2017. until January 7th 2018. all over the restaurants on North-west Istria. They will, in specified period, at affordable prices, offer full course menus based on adriatic squid, all in combination with local wines i olive oils of highest quality.
It will be sunny and lively in Novigrad from 15th to 19th December at the Christmas Fair which will be held under the tent at the square "Veliki trg" in the town centre.
The imaginative gifts will be available for sale in all three days from 3 to 8 pm.
The fair will be accompanied, apart from the occasional sale, by party and music and various events held under the tent and in different locations in the city.
Northwestern Istria is merrily preparing for Christmas and the New Year. This is the opportunity for the guests to enjoy the festive ambient together with the hosts and absorb the parts of tradition and local crafts with the occasional programme and socializing.

On December 15, 1902, a train covered the route between Buje and Poreč for the first time, driving along the at the time new narrow gauge railroad Parenzana. It was thus that the second section of the railroad previously connecting Trieste and Poreč was put into operation. With the total length of 123 kilometres, it wound through the green landscapes of northwestern Istria, connecting 33 Istrian settlements.
From 14.02. - 20.03.2018. gourmands will have an opportunity to savour delicious sea morsels at the Days of seashells organized by the tourist boards of Umag, Novigrad, Brtonigla and Buje on the territory of north-western Istria.

The festival will be held on Saturday, 17th and Sunday 18th February 2018.
During March, April and May the tenth Days of Istrian Asparagus will give true "asparagus lovers" an opportunity to relish in imaginative, delicious and fragrant delicacies made from Istrian wild asparagus, ranging from the renowned "fritaja" (omelettes), soups, homemade pastas and risottos to ingenious combinations with meat and fish and scrumptious desserts.
With a symbolic gift in the sweet scents and flavours of the most important Christian holiday, Novigrad will once again send a warm welcome to its dear guests on the streets of the old town centre before a musical backdrop coloured with traditional melodies and tones.
Earth Day will again be celebrated in Novigrad with the Novigrad Eco Day event. Everybody who wishes to do so can join an environmental clean-up campaign that kicks off in the morning at a number of locations throughout the town, from the beaches, promenades and woods to the seabed in the town harbour.
The Asparagus Festival is the first in a series of gourmet events, part of this year’s Novigrad Gourmet Festival beginning in late April and running through to October. Each of these events focuses on one aspect of the local cuisine – the first event is dedicated to the wild asparagus.

Aquapark Istralandia and SD „Trackers“ are representing the other side of running, the funnier side. Istralandia Run&Slide is rather an unusual race, during which 5 kilometres are run through the complex of the water park and surrounding trails, but the real surprise awaits you at the finish. The breath-taking scenery and stunning views will delight all amateurs and athletes, whilst the real wow factor will be experienced before the finish line, when contestants will slide on a water slide with six paths.
Our interesting afternoon itinerary will take you to Brtonigla, a village situated on a hill, surrounded by numerous vineyards and olive groves, only 10 minutes away from the sea. You will travel back in time by visiting and participating in old crafts workshops, during which the hosts will introduce you to the crafts of their grandfathers.
The folk festivity of Our Lady of Lourdes in the village of Radini nearby Brtonigla has been commemorating the appearance of the Virgin Mary for over eighty years. Our Lady of Lourdes allegedly appeared in 1922 to a local woman Marina Pirovich, who communicated to the pastor the wish to build a church in Mary’s honour. Although her story invoked religious fervour in the hearts of other inhabitants who supported the idea, the priest remained unconvinced until the pleas were finally granted by the next pastor Roberto Galetti.

The village of Radini in the vicinity of Brtonigla will host the summer bicycle ride in a row, which apart from recreation and sport also provides an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the beauties of the Istrian nature and rural architecture.

Note the dates 05.10. - 7.10. 2018. and sign up for the international cycling marathon Istria Granfondo. The sevnth edition of the marathon with the start and finish line in Umag and Novigrad will offer an even richer program this year.
The real challenge comes on Saturday, in Umag, on the routes for the bold and physically fit. Choose between the 88 km long route of Istria Granfondo Small and 128 km long route of Istria Granfondo Classic.
On Sunday, Istria Granfondo Family & Gourmet Tour will take you on a 25 km long recreational ride around Novigrad and its surroundings, along the shore, through olive groves and vineyards. Cyclists over the age of 10 will enjoy the views and tastings of Istrian dishes at the refreshment stops.
The tournament will bring together numerous familiar faces from the worlds of business, sports and show business. All participants will contribute to the humanitarian effort through their registration fee of HRK 100, getting the chance to play doubles tennis with a celebrity.
Funds will be collected through the purchase of registration fees, photographs with celebrities, and tasting of local wines, which means that this humanitarian sporting event will also have a fun side.
