Istrian Malvasia Wine festival
The 27th edition of the Festival of Istrian Malvazija has begun last Friday, 17 June 2011 with the evaluation of the wines.
The evaluation took place in the future museum of wine and rural creativity in Brtonigla, led by Ph.D. Mario Staver, president of evaluating commission of Vinistra.
The basis of this year's assessment lies in the concept terroir, which was the reason why this year's assessment was divided into four categories, depending on the color of the soil - red, black, white and gray soil. So this year the evaluation committee comprised of renowned oenologists and sommeliers, experts from the Institute for Agriculture and Tourism of Poreč, Rijeka Polytechnic, and the italian association Città del Vino – Cities of Wine. The members of the evaluating commission evaluated the wines in accordance with the rules of OIV (Organisation Internationale de la Vigne et du Vin).
The novelty of this year's evaluation of wines was the use of a special computer program, result of the experts from e-Computing, thanks to which the whole process of the evaluation has been faster, simpler and more precise.
The Festival of Istrian Malvasia, the wine tasting and an interesting supporting program will take place 2nd July 2011 in Brtonigla.
